Editing &
Proofreading
Your ebook and paperback manuscripts need to be “print-ready” before publishing.

We can edit & proofread your manuscript
-
Editing
A indie author who takes pride in his or her work will always be on the lookout for continuity issues, especially in longer projects - novels for example.
-
Proofreading
Proofreaders, now there’s a blast from the good old days of typesetting. They checked each line of text for typos, spelling errors and bad grammar.
-
Beta Readers
I personally think that any novel-length piece of writing should be read by a third party, especially if English is the second language of the author.

✽
All good word processors have an edit key, and then the software will highlight any areas of the manuscript which may require attention, but you cannot beat the eagle eye of a competent editor.
-
✽
If you don’t have the time or the inclination or just want a second opinion, then we at Indie Pub Pro can cast our beady eyes over your work. Patience, we have in abundance.

A beta reader could hired, but someone you know who enjoys reading will do just fine. If part of the text is awkward to read, or doesn’t make sense, the reader will pickup and highlight these areas.

Typos & Bad Grammar
Proof readers, now there’s a blast from the good old days of mechanical typesetting. Proof readers basically ran a ruler under a line of text and checked for typos, spelling errors and bad grammar. What a job, eh. Imagine doing that type of work day after day. A click on the edit button in a word processor will highlight all of the previously mentioned, and the author just has to work through them and make the appropriate changes, or not, as the case may be. But automatic editing software is not fool proof, and to avoid a publishing catastrophe, have a pro look at your work.
Remember the Seven Ps.
As I mentioned in the introduction to this page, modern word processors combined with an experienced author can practically eliminate the use of an editor. In the balmy days when writers laboured over typewriter keys, with correction fluid always close to hand, someone to cast an eagle eye over the scribe’s output was always recommended. And still is in my humble opinion. It’s better to be safe than sorry because getting it right the first time round can save a lot of money on a reformat of corrected text.
Proper Planning and Preparation Prevents Piss Poor Performance.
I don’t know who originally coined the above expression, but it so relevant to ebook and paperback production.
