Like so many things in life, you get what you pay for. Cheap as chips will do for a lot of the rubbish you see on may of the publishing platforms where, for £0.50, you can buy a booklet of questionable content. Or in some cases, no content at all. The people that peddle this type of material are just playing the numbers game. Who will miss 50p at the end of the day.
For the more discerning writer a professionally produced cover is essential. Even more so if you publish a paperback because the book is handled and the cover comes under a lot of scrutiny. Simon Dudley’s series of Laura McNaughty Adventures books are an excellent example where the cover artist increases the desire to find out more about the story.
